Class Descriptions

candlelight SLOW flow

Start your week with a heart-centered flow class by candlelight in a warm room (88 degrees). Unwind from your day and reconnect to your body & breath in this well-rounded, slow-paced Vinyasa class for beginner to intermediate. We will hit on your favorite poses to wring out tension and build heat, while adding the bolster to various poses for ultimate support and relaxation. Those who are newer to yoga will receive help adjusting and finding correct alignment. Class will begin and end with a short mantra and meditation to set intention. Aromatherapy may be used during adjustments & final relaxation (Savasana). Be prepared to leave feeling soothed, refreshed and ready for a good night’s sleep.

Kirtan - call and response chanting

The Sanskrit names of the divine (Mantras) are chanted to dissolve fear and anxiety, returning us to a sense of peace and well-being. Mantras will be chanted with the accompaniment of the harmonium, an accordion-like instrument from India that creates a deep, healing vibration. Silent and guided meditation will be part of this lovely evening practice.

Kirtan comes from the ancient style of Yoga known as Bhakti or the Yoga of devotion. The Sanskrit names of the Hindu Gods and Goddesses are sung over and over in a call-and-response form. These chants have been sung for thousands of years by those who have come before us.

All are welcome. No experience is necessary.

Select Tuesdays only: Please check our class schedule above.

SHALA FLOW

A thoughtfully sequenced, breath-centered and medium-paced class that creates heat, mindfulness and balance. Incorporates a variety of standing poses with an introduction to intermediate asanas (poses). Invites students into the home of the body using the breath to integrate alignment principles, fluid vinyasa and a deep meditative savasana. Inspiration such as music, poetry and/or meditation may be used to draw practitioners into the heart, nurturing a deeper awareness on and off the mat. This class is welcoming to varying levels, but prior yoga experience is preferred.

Hot VINYASA FLOW

Hot Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic practice that will challenge, strengthen, and uplift you both physically and mentally. It is set to upbeat music, and a yoga inspired message will be offered for you to incorporate on and off the mat. This practice moves through seven doorways or stages, starting by creating sacred space and igniting the spirit or breath. Then we light the fire through a series of warmups and vinyasa flow including Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) A, B & C. The warm up prepares the body for strong holding postures and finishes with yin and conscious surrender in Sivasana. A sweat towel, water, and a sense of adventure are strongly suggested.

MINDFUL FLOW

Mindful Flow is a seamless sequence designed and curated intuitively based on the needs of the students and the overall energy of the day. You can expect to leave feeling grounded, nurtured and connected to your body.

gentle therapeUtic yoga

This class is your weekly reset. Gentle yet strengthening, soothing yet enlivening, it’s the perfect blend of stretch, core support and restorative stillness. Ideal for recovery after an active weekend, this practice unwinds tight muscles, strengthens underused ones and nourished your whole body. Begin your week grounded calm and resilient.

Yoga fit

This is a heart-opening - blood pumping - body strengthening class where we will move through plyometric, and calisthenic exercises to heart pumping and soothing beats. We will intermingle and flow through yoga poses and finish with yin poses to releases and restore the nervous system.

bikram style hot yoga

Bikram style yoga is a set sequence of 26 postures practiced in a heated room. 24 asanas and 2 breathing exercises repeated twice throughout the duration of the class. The sequence never changes. Each previous asana prepares you for the next one. Bikram Style hot yoga is suitable for all levels and has a lot of health benefits: it stretches your whole body, increases blood circulation, and brings more oxygen to your muscles, in addition to the standard benefits of yoga. Heat helps your muscles to stretch more easily, makes you sweat, and helps flush out toxins and lose weight. Make sure to hydrate and before the class and bring a towel for your mat to avoid slipping.

Ashtanga inspired flow

Drawing from the traditional Ashtanga Yoga style, this modified class offers a powerful way to build both physical strength and mental resilience. This practice is designed to cultivate discipline, balance, and a deeper connection between body and mind, making it both a challenging and rewarding experience. The set sequence allows one to build consistency, deepen familiarity with poses, and provides a "moving meditation" that improves focus and mindfulness. It creates a safe and structured journey for the body, minimizing injury risk by preparing it for complex poses. Set sequences also allow for easier observation of personal progress and create a profound sense of connection between the mind and body, fostering physical and mental growth.

Ashtanga - primary series

The Ashtanga Yoga method is an oral tradition that is passed on from teacher to student in an unbroken lineage. The method is an expression of traditional Hatha yoga - postural yoga - with a focus on certain core elements and energetics. The physical practice has the potential to become a moving meditation. By moving through a certain set sequence of postures, working with tristhana (breath, bandhas and gazing point), all the while linking movement with the breath (vinyasa), the practice can take you deep within. The Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa) focuses on yoga therapy, purifying the body and mind. All levels welcome.

Ashtanga yoga - mysore style

This is how traditional style Ashtanga Yoga is most often taught. All levels welcome. No previous experience needed. Come practice as often as you want + at any time during the allotted practice hours. If you are new to the practice, come in the earlier part of the session and Hansa will get you up to speed with the Ashtanga practice protocol and support you with your practice. These sessions provide the opportunity to cultivate a deeply enriched self-practice, where we naturally start taking responsibility for how we show up for ourselves, the practice, and ultimately, in life. Here we cultivate “abhyāsa” - tending to our practice, over a long period of time, consistently, and with purity of heart. Together we hold sacred space for each other to explore the beautiful depth of the practice.

Free Yoga & Meditation

Join us for this therapeutic half hour yoga sequence followed by a half hour of meditation led by Shane. Shane practices Zen Buddhism and his holistic approach to yoga and meditation weave together physical and mental wellness. His classes provide a space for healing, transformation and growth. A wonderful class to wind down your weekend and center yourself for the week ahead.
